Start of the Winter Country Championship Finals. ELEGANT NOBLE won well enough to suggest he has more to come. He could make the required improvement being a lightly raced for a six-year-old. BATON ROUGE showed good resolve to follow up and is looking to make it three wins in a row. Richard Fourie gets a good tune out of him. But GENTLEMAN JOE has beaten him and as he runs well from a break could prove to be dangerous, especially as he also jumps from a decent stall. EXPRESS YOURSELF, KWITE A KING and ARIOVISTUS all have claims but have wide draws to overcome.
